WELCOME!
My name's Bart J. Rubber and I would like to invite everyone to my web gallery.
It's been since 1994 that I started to draw and paint. For this time this activity has been my hobby along with writing. My first "works" were inspired by "anatomic realism" presented by American superhero comic books. Most of my early pieces still carry this sign.
I used mostly pen and pencil in the beginning, changing into watercolors some time later. I also used coloured pencils, inks and other techniques.
It was around 1997 when I started to be seriously interested in incorporating some elements of the manga style in to my work. I was difficult and in fact still is for me.
After couple of years I achieved a considerable amount of pictures and I started to try and put them in some order. It was around 1996 or 1997 - that's when I created the categories for my pics and named the collection Curved Snout.
In January 1998 I started my hard and painful way through the amazing world af computer graphics. Although tough, I found CG very promising and giving new opportunities.
Half a year later, when I gained constant access to a scanner, I decided to transfer all my works into digital form. I did it with all the old pics, doing lots of touch-ups and corrections. Some of them were totally altered using image processing software..
Doing that, I almost abandoned drawing and painting by hand and tried to totally jump to CG. I closed Curved Snout and started a new collection: Digital Dreams, supposed to be totally electronic.
I started with American comics, therefore most of my early works were well built men. Soon though started learning to draw women and this category is now the biggest.
I also personally made pictures for couple of my Tales. I also scandalised in some of my pictures using nudity, faith and other things.
Nowadays I use both brushes, pencils and mouse to draw. The first sketch for everything is always done by hand. It's just that I feel it has something humane in it then. I'm not yet satisfied with my CG abilities, but I guess I never will. And it's something nice from time to time to melt the paint with water...
What is here, in this gallery is a joint collection: Curved Snout & The Digital Dreams. I think this way it goes together the best.
I made the pictures into categories, but they are not in cronological order. Still, some periods in my creativity can be observed and most of the pictures are dated.
This site is under constant devlopment and it will be for quite a time. Soon I'll add information to every picture: date, technique, comments, etc. By now, you can find itt all in my little Gallery on my homesite: Bart J. Rubber's Hideout.
By now, I hope you'll like this gallery!

PS. If you want to enjoy the gallery in a sensible way, you need to have 1024x768x24bit. It's the least to make sense. 800x600x16bit will not do any good... And - sorry for the popups, but thanks to them I can have this site. I hope you can accept them.
